Greenwich Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Toni Jones announced the appointment of Lauren Bird as assistant principal at Cos Cob School in Greenwich, effective immediately.
Bird, who most recently served as assistant principal in Wilton, will assist Cos Cob School Principal Kerry Gavin, supporting the entire Cos Cob community and aiding in the development and achievement of school goals and objectives while advocating on behalf of all students, Jones said.
“Mrs. Lauren Bird is an outstanding addition to Cos Cob School, impressing the interview committee and senior district administrators with her commitment to academic growth as well as her dedication to the social-emotional well-being of students, their families, and fellow staff members,” Dr. Jones said.
For the past 15 years, Bird has been an educator in the state, most recently holding the position of assistant principal at Cider Mill and Miller-Driscoll Schools in Wilton since 2015.
While there, she was the school culture and climate coordinator, instructional leader coordinating with curriculum coaches, facilitator of IEP and 504 meetings, and collaborator with the principal on emergency eLearning.
PBeforeher time in Wilton, Mrs. Bird was a first-grade teacher at Frank A. Berry Elementary School in Bethel and a third-grade teacher at Center Elementary School in Willington.
She also serves as an educational consultant with a company focused on K-12 professional development, onsite training, and standardized test preparation.
“I am thrilled to embark on this new chapter at Cos Cob School, continuing and creating new enriching educational experiences that empower both students and educators alike,” Bird said. “Eager to contribute to a district that shares a commitment to ongoing professional learning and development, I want to help ensure that all students thrive in their educational journey through collaboration and dedication to a student-first mindset.”
Bird holds a bachelor’s in elementary education, a master’s in curriculum and instruction, and an Educational Leadership Sixth-Year certificate from the University of Connecticut.
